Excel, an effective tool for evaluation.
This page is dedicated to one key aspect of our teaching profession: the evaluation. Every teacher is supposed to evaluate their students and then, reflect these marks on a sheet with the aim of calculating the final arithmetical mean. Even though this process seems to be really rough, there are technological tools such as Excel programme to fulfil this aspect of the teaching profession.
Excel is especially useful for English teachers because of the large quantity of marks that they have to take into account when assessing their students (listening, reading, writing, speaking, grammar & vocabulary...). Thus, they can introduce the marks little by little and, in the final process of evaluation Excel allows them to calculate the final mean with automatic formulas.
Moreover, the programme is really effective to see directly how many passed and failed there are in a class, it is as easy as pressing a button. And finally, it offers a huge variety of fonts, colours and design options for making the evaluation table you want.
Here you have an Excel exercise that was compulsory for ICT class homework. I have selected 8 random names who perform as they're my students and I divided the document into three different tables: the first one is the continuous assessment table (60% of the final mark), then you can see the marks of the final exam (40% of the final mark) and the third one is the calculation of the final mark of the students.
